Complete Implant Smile
What is a complete implant smile?

If you have lost all your natural teeth, you no longer have to face a lifetime of wearing dentures. A complete implant smile offers you a way to restore your smile and relegate the inconvenience of wearing dentures to your past.

We are able to replace all of your missing teeth using dental implants. The function, strength and appearance of dental implants are as close as it is possible to get to natural teeth.

Is the treatment I need available on the NHS?

It is extremely unlikely that your treatment is available on the NHS, especially in the case of dental implants or adult orthodontics. Within our practice, we can offer more solutions and efficiency of service.

Will my treatment hurt?

We use the latest techniques and highly effective anaesthetics to make treatment as comfortable as possible for you. We also use sedation in the practice to calm the nerves of patients, although we advise the careful and selective use of these procedures.

How much will my treatment cost?

We provide 3 levels of pricing for dental implant treatment whether you are seeking expert specialist care for 10-year guarantees, wonderful clinician care for 5-year guarantees or affordable implant dentistry provided in a teaching environment. The Implant Denture
How do you secure dentures?

If you are someone who has loose or ill-fitting dentures, you know how much it can be a problem, affecting your confidence as well as your ability to eat or even speak in comfort. Implant-retained dentures are life-changing.

By fitting a small number of dental implants, it is possible to securely fix your dentures in place without needing to use denture adhesives or pastes. Different types of implant retained or supported dentures are available depending on individual patient requirements.

Do implant retained dentures offer peace of mind?

Implant-retained dentures offer you peace of mind and improved function when compared to traditional dentures. They are also a cost-effective way of replacing many teeth. By placing implants into your jaw, we can also help preserve the remaining bone and restore lip support so that your mouth looks younger and more defined.

Single Implant Treatment
What is the best solution?

If you have lost a single tooth, then a dental implant is often the best solution to replace it. A dental implant is a titanium screw that is placed in your jaw and fitted with a prosthetic tooth. Not only does the result look and feel natural, restoring the strength and function of a natural tooth, but it will also preserve the health of your neighbouring teeth and your underlying bone structure.

Are they long-lasting and natural-looking?

Dental implants are an option for most people and almost undetectable once they have been fitted. They give the best results in terms of aesthetics and function, restoring the appearance of your smile or your bite, depending on where you have a gap. Dental implants are easier to clean than dentures and last much longer than any other restoration.

Full Arch Options
Is there a guarantee?

Our 10-year guarantee

Dental implants provide the best quality and best proven method of dental restoration available. If cared for properly, your new teeth can last for the rest of your life. They also help stimulate bone growth, improve your bite and safeguard your speech. For your added peace of mind, we offer a 10-year guarantee on many of our implant treatments.

What are the options for a full arch?

At The Campbell Clinic our team look after patients who require full mouth reconstructions and full arch reconstructions on a day-to-day basis and have done for many years. A full arch reconstruction is when it is necessary to replace all of the patient’s teeth in one jaw and a full mouth reconstruction is when it is necessary to replace all teeth.

Patients can lose teeth for many reasons, including gum disease and tooth decay, and the resultant loss of teeth can be extremely distressing and upsetting. The team at The Campbell Clinic completely understand this and we work very hard with all of our patients to find them the best possible solution for their circumstances.

We do not believe that ‘one size fits all’ and we completely believe that there is an individual solution for every single patient.

Option 1 - Conventional Dentures

The simplest and least invasive method of replacing teeth in an upper or lower jaw is the construction of a denture.

These are classic, removable restorations, constructed individually for each patient to provide the best possible result.

At The Campbell Clinic we have a designated Clinical Dental Technician, whose entire job is focused only on the provision of dentures. We also have access to Specialist Care in removable Prosthodontics (Dentures) Oral Surgery and Periodontology (Gum Disease) to assist in any treatment planning and provision.

For some patients complete dentures are the best option, although they are a limited restoration, which can have some movement and require to be removed.

Option 2 - Implant Retained Dentures

It is possible to provide assistance to retain and steady conventional complete dentures. The simplest method of doing this is to use a ‘press stud’ style attachment on dental implants known as a locator abutment.

It is necessary to place two or four implants in the lower jaw and a minimum of four implants in the upper jaw.

The implants have a ‘press stud’ style attachment included with the opposite end of the attachment within the denture. This allows the dentures to be pressed into the mouth and ‘clicked’ in place. Although there can still be slight movement with this restoration it is a world away from a complete denture and offers security, stability and confidence for patients who experience difficulty wearing dentures.

At The Campbell Clinic, Specialists in Oral Surgery and Prosthodontics can advise patients on the best options for care in these situations.

Option 3 - Removable Bridgework / Bar Restorations

For patients looking for a much more secure option and in particular, in the upper jaw where patients do not want a restoration that covers their palate, an excellent option is an implant supported denture, which is retained on a bar (removable bridge).

In the upper jaw this generally requires placement of four dental implants. In the lower jaw this can be two or four dental implants upon which a custom built bar is fitted which allows a minimal denture to be secured using clips and studs.

This is an extremely rigid and robust restoration and the majority of our patients are able to eat apples and crusty bread using this type of solution.

A removable bridge is required to be removed twice daily for cleaning but retained in the patient’s mouth at all other times. It is a highly successful restoration for many of our patients.

Option 4 - Fixed Bridgework

The ideal option for many patients is to have fixed-in-teeth.

Four, six or eight dental implants are placed with teeth constructed on the top that are secured in place and not removed. These restorations are cleaned with a toothbrush and interdental cleaning brushes and are the closest possible solution to natural teeth.

There are several ways that these restorations can be constructed and, at The Campbell Clinic, Specialists can give you advice on all of the possible options and which one might be the most suitable for your situation. It is really important to remember that one size does not fit all in these situations.

With fixed-in-teeth solutions we would expect our patients to be able to eat whatever they want and to smile and function with huge confidence.

Option 5 - Immediate Restorations

Much is made in both the press and other places about the possibility of ‘immediate teeth’ and ‘teeth in a day’. For patients who have a failing dentition and need multiple teeth extracted, or for patients who no longer have teeth present this is a possibility but is a very specific type of treatment that needs to be assessed on an individual patient basis. Not everyone is suitable for immediate teeth but, if suitable, it can be an extremely useful and powerful restoration to provide people with a fantastic solution.

It is extremely important that people being assessed for this type of treatment are seen by appropriately qualified individuals with experience as the General Dental Council classifies this as a complex treatment.

In cases of possible immediate tooth replacement all options need to be discussed with an appropriately qualified member of our team to ensure that you are happy to proceed with the treatment that is best for you.

If you are keen to proceed with an immediate restoration, and you are suitable for this, it is generally possible to provide you with immediately fixed-in-teeth (which are temporary teeth) on a same day basis. Generally treatment starts at approximately 8am and finishes between 3pm – 4pm. Our patients are generally sedated but leave the practice with a lovely new smile and teeth that are fixed into their mouth as demonstrated by the photographs above.

At The Campbell Clinic we have considerable experience in the provision of immediate teeth and full arch restorations with the combined experience of the clinicians in well over 100 cases treated. We keep a very close eye on our success rates and our patient outcomes and feel that this is a very successful treatment for appropriate cases in our practice.

Fast Dental Implants
How many appointments will my treatment take?

Each treatment is individual to you, so we can only truly answer this question when we have completed our treatment plan. With complex procedures, we advise that it may take a number of visits but also to build in some flexibility where required. It is clearly in everybody’s interest to get the treatment completed as efficiently as possible but without compromising the quality.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a titanium insert designed to replace missing teeth. The insert is usually made out of titanium and is surgically placed into the jaw where the tooth is missing. Onto the implant we can then attach secure natural-looking and feeling teeth. A dental implant is designed to act as the tooth root and anchors an artificial tooth or teeth such as a crown, bridge or denture. At The Campbell Clinic, we use the Straumann Dental Implant system.

What is periodontal (gum) disease?

The word ‘periodontal’ literally means ‘around the tooth’. Periodontal (gum) diseases are bacterial gum infections that destroy the gums and supporting bone that hold your teeth in your mouth. Periodontal (gum) diseases can affect one tooth or many teeth. The main cause is bacterial plaque, a colourless film that forms on your teeth. If the plaque is not removed, it can turn into a hard substance called calculus or tartar. This can only be removed by a dentist or dental hygienist. The bacteria in plaque infects the gums causing redness and inflammation which can cause destruction of the tissues that support the teeth, including the bone. The inflammation and the poisons cause destruction of the tissues that support the teeth, including the bone. When this happens, the gums separate microscopically from the teeth, forming pockets that fill with even more plaque causing further infection.

Patient Reviews

After struggling with loose dentures for years, Colin placed four implants for me to secure a new denture and it’s wonderful! Eating is much easier and I am never worried it will fall out. Colin was really caring, always there for me. I would recommend him to my family and friends.
The surgical implants proved to be far less invasive and painful than I had feared and the final result is now well worth the treatment and expense as I now have a full balanced set of teeth and can eat on either side after a very short time.
I have now had my new teeth a couple of weeks and they are FAB! I just want to say thank you for everything you did for me.
Prior to my implant it was difficult to eat certain foods, I was constantly aware of the denture, always worried incase it dropped or came out! Now my eating ability has increased, I can smile and laugh with confidence once again.
Just a short note of thanks for the wonderful job you did on my teeth. I must confess I was dreading the treatment process, but you made it quite bearable. Not once did I feel that you did not have my best interest and comfort in mind. Comments from family and friends show what a wonderful job you did.
I would like to express my thanks for encouraging me to consider implants for my bottom denture. For your commitment by method of discussion, trial and error and your expertise. The final outcome is perfect!
