Andrew Flett - Dentist in Nottingham at The Campbell Clinic

Here at The Campbell Clinic there are many clinicians and staff members you can meet, here you can get to know a little bit about our Consultant Orthodontist.

Hello, I'm Andrew Flett and I'm the Consultant Orthodontist here at The Campbell Clinic in Nottingham.

Where did you study and what qualifications do you have?

I studied firstly at the university of Liverpool qualifying with dentistry in 2006. I then did about four years of house jobs and hospital jobs before moving to Sheffield to start my specialist training in orthodontics

In 2015 I completed my training as a Consultant Orthodontist and began working at The Campbell Clinic in 2016.

Why did you choose a career in dentistry?

I like talking to people and I also like helping people. As an orthodontist it's quite nice to also make people happy at the end of their treatment. We can do very straightforward treatment, just improving the aesthetics of people's teeth or we can also change their function for example setting them up for implants or more complicated restorative work.

What are your main interests in dentistry?

Being trained up to consultant level as an orthodontist we can do very straightforward cases or we can do quite complicated work, mixing orthodontics with implants and restorative dentistry. That's really the branch of dentistry that I enjoy at the Campbell Clinic, providing orthodontic treatment in order to move teeth into the correct position so that we can harness implant placement in the correct position at the very end of treatment.

What do you enjoy about being a dentist?

I enjoy the technical aspects of dentistry. One of the newer things in dentistry now is we've got the digital scanning and the digital direct and indirect bonding of brackets. I really enjoy the technology of dentistry and at The Campbell Clinic we have a scanner so you can actually see what your teeth will look like before we even put the first bracket or aligner in your mouth.

What do you like to do outside of dentistry?

Outside of dentistry I like to keep fit. I like to watch rugby nowadays as I don't want to hurt my hands. I do a lot of running and when I'm not running around after two kids I like cooking and I like enjoying fine wine and the odd beer as well.
