Life changing transformations

What is full arch dental implant treatment?

At The Campbell Clinic, our team looks after patients who require full mouth reconstructions and full arch reconstructions on a day-to-day basis and have done for many years. A full arch reconstruction is when it is necessary to replace all of the patient’s teeth in one jaw and a full mouth reconstruction is when it is necessary to replace all teeth.

If you have lost all your natural teeth, you no longer have to face a lifetime of wearing dentures. A complete implant smile offers you a way to restore your smile and relegate the inconvenience of wearing dentures to your past.

Treatment Process of Full Arch 'Same Day Teeth' using multiple dental implants
At The Campbell Clinic, we pride ourselves on utilising state-of-the-art digital scanners to ensure our patients receive the finest quality dental care available. Our in-house CBCT scanner allows us to precisely plan your treatment, ultimately reducing the time you need to spend in the treatment room. Our team is deeply committed to delivering excellence in implant dentistry, driven by their passion for providing the highest standards of care.

Consultation with an Implant Surgeon

At the Campbell Clinic, our implant consultation typically lasts 60 minutes, providing plenty of time to talk for us to get to know each other and to understand exactly what your aims, ambitions and hopes are from the treatment so that we make sure that we are offering the most suitable treatment option for you.

During the initial consultation, we will take X-rays to assess the bone structure, ensuring Immediate Full Arch Loading is a viable treatment option for you. If it proves to be both suitable and desirable, we will share examples of previous successful cases, giving you a clear vision of what to expect.

Following the consultation, you will receive a detailed letter explaining the treatment in-depth, allowing you to fully comprehend the process before moving forward. We will then invite you to an "Options Meeting" at the Campbell Clinic. This meeting offers an opportunity to discuss the various treatment options we've presented, ensuring you make an informed decision that aligns perfectly with your needs.

Manufacture of Bespoke Surgical Stent

Once you've made the decision that IFAL is the perfect option for you and we've confirmed the presence of sufficient bone quality and quantity, we'll move on to creating a personalised plan for your new teeth.

Our meticulous process begins with taking extensive records to ensure that the design of your new teeth is tailored uniquely to you. Our team, led by a skilled technician and one of our dental surgeons, will work together to craft a precise and customised solution.

To ensure utmost accuracy, we'll produce a surgical stent—a clear acrylic guide that fits snugly into your mouth during the surgery. This stent enables us to visualise the final placement of the teeth, guaranteeing that the implants are positioned optimally for the most exceptional and desired outcome.

At every stage of your treatment, our focus remains on providing you with a seamless experience and the most natural-looking results possible. With our expert team and cutting-edge techniques, we are dedicated to giving you a smile that not only enhances your appearance but also boosts your confidence.

Implant placement and provision of fixed immediate Same Day Teeth

On the day of surgery, most patients opt for sedation as this makes the procedure more comfortable. Our careful planning comes to life as we transfer the meticulously designed implant positions into your mouth, focusing on areas with optimal bone quality and quantity for excellent stability.

Thanks to our innovative techniques, we can attach teeth to the implants on the very same day. Once the implants are in place, guided by the stent, we take precise impressions of the implants. This crucial information is then handed over to our on-site technician, who works swiftly to craft your provisional bridge. Meaning you'll walk out of our practice with a brand new set of fixed teeth,

Implant integration

Implant integration – a key factor for long-term success and stability around your implants.

At the Campbell Clinic, we prioritise achieving excellent primary stability for all IFAL implants. This entails ensuring the implants are securely anchored within the bone. To enhance this process and speed up your journey to a confident smile, we use advanced implants coated with a special substance.

This innovative coating has a unique ability to attract bone cells, promoting rapid and robust bone growth around the implants. As a result, the implants become remarkably solid in a significantly shorter time frame. This exciting advancement enables us to expedite the process of providing final restorations.

Final Implant Restoration

The initial provisional IFAL Bridge is an acrylic bridge reinforced with a small metal substructure to give additional strength during implant integration and initial healing. As you progress on your IFAL journey, you'll have the final IFAL bridge, which can be acrylic or porcelain.

In all cases, there is a titanium skeleton that lies beneath the restoration, providing great strength and stability to the bridge. This titanium framework not only links the implants together but also ensures the distribution of bite forces evenly across the four or six implants.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are dental implants?

A dental implant is essentially a screw which is very carefully inserted into a patient’s jaw to allow connection to an artificial tooth/denture. They are the nearest tooth replacement to your own natural teeth. At The Campbell Clinic, we use the Straumann Dental Implant system.

Who is suitable for 'same day teeth' with dental implants?

If you are losing your remaining teeth or have no teeth, immediate full arch dental implants can be considered as a possible treatment to replace all of your teeth.

Same day teeth are ideal for anyone who wants to regain confidence in their smile

Same Day Teeth treatment is ideal for anyone who wants to regain confidence in their smile, and ability to eat, speak and laugh. It provides an alternative to patients who do not want to have to wear a temporary denture for the duration of their Dental Implant treatment.

During your consultation, we would assess your suitability for treatment using a thorough clinical assessment and a CBCT scan to analyse your bone levels in the regions of the proposed replacement teeth. If this is favourable then immediate Same Day Teeth can be considered as an effective treatment option.

What are same day dental implants?

'Same Day Teeth' is a procedure for people with missing or failing teeth. It's a new fixed complete set of teeth on dental implants. This can be a great option for people who are already wearing dentures or are losing their teeth due to disease and breakdown.

Is dental implant treatment painful?

Implant treatment is generally painless, as it is carried out under anaesthetic, and sedation can be used for nervous patients. We’re happy to arrange a meeting with patients who have already had implant treatment so that you have a better understanding of what is going to happen and so you can have any questions you might have answered by people who have already been through the process.

Have a watch of our video where Beatriz Sanchez, a dentist at The Campbell Clinic Nottingham, discusses what you would experience during dental implant treatment.

How long does full arch treatment take?

Replacing a complete set of teeth can take up to 12 months which is why we also provide ‘teeth-in-a-day’ or immediate full arch loading (IFAL). This advanced treatment is meticulously planned and uses 4 to 6 tooth implants to which temporary bridges are placed. We will then carefully craft permanent bridges while the tooth implants heal. Results are incredibly natural with no visible signs that you ever had missing teeth.

How many dental implants are required for a full arch?

The minimum number of implants required for a fixed full arch bridge is four. This applies to either jaw. However, at The Campbell Clinic, we plan each case on an individual basis and if we can place more than four implants, we will as this increases the stability of the final bridge and gives a greater surface area of implants which increases the strength and long-term success.

I’ve used the Campbell Clinic for many years and rate it very highly. I unfortunately have many issues with my teeth and bones, so without their high level of expertise I would be in a very difficult position. Everyone is friendly, caring and professional, right from when you enter the clinic, until the moment you leave. All treatments are clearly explained and they always make sure you’ve understood all your options. Thoroughly recommended.
