Specialist Practice Information
The Campbell Clinic is a Specialist Dental Practice which has multiple Specialists listed on multiple Specialist lists from the General Dental Council. These lists include Oral Surgery, Periodontology (Gum Disease), Endodontics (Root Fillings), Orthodontics (Teeth Straightening) and Restorative Dentistry including crowns, bridges, dentures and fillings.
At the current time we have clinicians in the practice who are registered on eight different General Dental Council Specialist lists which is what denotes us as a Specialist Practice.
To compliment the clinical work and the workload of the Specialists within the practice we also have clinicians who are not on the Specialist list. These include General Dental Practitioners, some of whom have further degree qualifications including Masters Degrees in Implant Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry.
All of our clinicians undergo extensive further Post-Graduate education and are entirely suited to the tasks they perform within the practice. We also have two Hygienists, a Dental Therapist and a Clinical Dental Technician within the practice. Our Dental Nurses are also extensively trained to provide aspects of dental care including x-rays, photographs and dental impressions both digital and analogue.
All this means is that you may see a Specialist in the practice or someone designated by a Specialist to assist in carrying out your care. This facilitates more speedy treatment and a smoother treatment pathway; if the treatment was entirely left to Specialist provision there would be longer waiting lists and less accessibility to treatment as Specialists are much less in numbers.
If you are in any doubt about the clinician who is treating you in the practice then please ask any member of the team to explain entirely who the individual is and what their qualifications are. No one in the practice will ever treat a patient for which they are not qualified. We feel it is important to point this out at the very outset of treatment to ensure that patients do not ever feel that they have been under the impression that they have been entirely treated by a Specialist at all times.
If you have a preference for a clinician to treat you for a particular aspect of your treatment then please ask and we will do our upmost to facilitate any request.
Maria Fernandez - Canedo PintorQualifications: Lic Odont Seville 2006, Special Interest in Orthodontics
My name is Maria and I am originally from Seville, a beautiful city in the south of Spain.
I graduated as a Dentist in my hometown. After my graduation I wanted to achieve one of my lifelong ambitions, which was to travel and experience the life and culture in a different country. Since my arrival in 2007 I have been working in Primary Care dentistry, allowing me to utilise my dental skills to deliver high standards of dental treatment to a variety of different patients.
During the past few years I haven’t stopped learning and improving my knowledge in the field of dentistry and one of my main interests is Orthodontics as well as Oral Surgery. This has led me to achieve a Postgraduate Certificate in Orthodontics and to work voluntarily with Mercy Ships (a non- profit organization which does charitable work) in Sierra Leone. This experience I found very challenging but yet rewarding at the same time.
As you can guess from my introduction, I like to travel along with meeting different people and sharing their culture. I love learning new languages and I am proud to say that I can talk perfect Spanish, English (with an accent!) as well as intermediate French. In my spare time I enjoy physical activities such as Yoga, Trekking in the countryside, along with cycling. I also have a passion for cooking.
I would consider myself to be very patient, considerate, empathetic and a good communicator, qualities, which I believe are vital for patient care.
