How does Invisalign work?

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear, removable aligner that can help you straighten your teeth in as little as 12 months. With Invisalign, your teeth are gradually shifted into proper alignment, providing a discreet solution to teeth straightening that won't interfere with your daily routine.

As one of the leading options for "invisible" orthodontic treatment in Nottingham, Invisalign is highly effective in correcting various dental issues, such as overcrowding, widely spaced teeth, crossbites, overbites, and underbites. This treatment involves a series of clear and removable aligners that are replaced every two weeks to gently move your teeth into their correct positions.

How does Invisalign work?

At The Campbell Clinic in Nottingham, we use a digital scan of your mouth to begin your Invisalign treatment. We will provide you with a 'Clin-check' that shows a predicted result of your treatment before it has even begun. Your clear aligners will be custom-made based on your personalised treatment plan.

To ensure the effectiveness of your Invisalign treatment, you will need to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day. You can remove them temporarily when you eat or brush your teeth. You will also need to attend dental check-ups every four to six weeks to track your treatment progress and collect your new aligners.

The duration of Invisalign treatment typically lasts between nine and eighteen months, depending on each individual's specific requirements.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Invisalign treatment cost?

The exact price will vary depending on how long you will need the treatment for. You can spread the cost throughout the course of treatment meaning the entire cost does not have to be paid at once. We will discuss this in greater detail during a consultation.

You can find a full list of our treatment prices including Invisalign costs through our orthodontic treatments prices webpage.

How long does Invisalign treatment take to straighten my teeth?
Typically, Invisalign will take somewhere between nine and eighteen months. However this will depend on each individual and their specific requirements so we would encourage you to get in touch to arrange a complimentary consultation to discuss orthodontic options with us here.
Do Invisalign braces hurt?

Compared to other aspects of dentistry, Orthodontics is a relatively low pain procedure. However, we would warn patients to expect some discomfort during the treatment phase particularly towards the beginning of your treatment. Nevertheless, in most cases Invisalign is found to be more comfortable for patients in comparison to traditional braces.

Am I suitable for Invisalign treatment?

There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment and we are now seeing more and more adults interested in straitening their teeth. Our consultant level Orthodontist, Andrew Flett, believes the average age of our patients is in fact over 30. Invisalign is often a very popular choice amongst adults due to the discreet nature of the treatment in comparison to traditional braces.

Does Invisalign treatment involve whitening?

Many of our patients are interested in whitening following the completion of their orthodontic treatment. Here at The Campbell Clinic, we do provide teeth whitening in Nottingham if you are looking for a brighter smile.

Is Invisalign treatment a permanent fix?

Our treatment plans are based around placing your teeth into a stable position based on the structures around them. Despite this, all patients must understand the requirement for retainers after treatment as these help to hold the teeth into their corrected position.
