Here at The Campbell Clinic there are many clinicians and staff members you can meet, here you can get to know a little bit about one of our clinicians, Beatriz Sanchez.
Hi I am Beatriz Sanchez and I have been a part of the The Campbell Clinic team since 2015.
Why did you first get into dentistry?
I grew up surrounded by healthcare professionals, doctors, nurses, surgeons, even a couple of dentists, so Sunday meals conversations were always about hospitals, cases, research, so I guess I found this very interesting. I always thought it would be medicine and I was even ready to start medical school, but Dentistry became an option. It’s a career much more focused in one area and much more hands on from the very beginning. I thought that would match much better with my personality and I don’t regret it at all.
Where did you study?
I am from the north of Spain from a place called Pamplona, but I qualified in Barcelona, I finished my University studies in 2008. I did a post graduate course in Oral Surgery after, and also one in restorative dentistry and some research modules. Then when I moved to the UK I did a 3-year Masters degree in Implant dentistry, which probably put together the two areas I was doing before.
What are your main interests in Dentistry?
I do quite a lot of general dentistry because I like following patients through their dental journey but the areas I enjoy more are oral surgery and implants
What do you enjoy about being a dentist?
It’s mainly the contact with patients, knowing so many people and meeting so many patients, different backgrounds, different life stories. I really like that contact with the patients.
I’m also quite involved with teaching. I teach for The Campbell Academy, and really enjoy that part of my professionals as well.
What are your hobbies outside of dentistry?
I am a mum of two baby girls, 18 months apart, and that keeps us very busy outside work. I also really like swimming, I always have my best ideas in the pool, and I really like travelling and cooking as well.
