Implant dentures are a way of securing removable dentures into the mouth. By fitting a small number of dental implants, it is possible to securely fix your dentures in place without needing to use denture adhesives or pastes. Different types of implant retained or supported dentures are available depending on individual patient requirements.
Implant-retained dentures offer you peace of mind and improved function when compared to traditional dentures. They are also a cost-effective way of replacing many teeth. By placing implants into your jaw, we can also help preserve the remaining bone and restore lip support so that your mouth looks younger and more defined.
There are two ways of doing this:
We find that patients who have been wearing dentures for many, many years get real benefits from supporting their dentures with dental implants.
A dental implant is essentially a screw which is very carefully inserted into a patient’s jaw to allow connection to an artificial tooth/denture. They are the nearest tooth replacement to your own natural teeth. At The Campbell Clinic, we use the Straumann Dental Implant system.

Patients who are missing some or all of their teeth may well be suitable for implant retained dentures.
There are several elements that need to be satisfied including sufficient bone to place implants and sufficient space to allow us to use the relevant components. Providing these are both in place then implant dentures can be a fantastic solution to missing teeth.
Implant dentures take around about 6 months to complete from start to finish. This includes the time taken to plan your case and place the implants.
There is then time to allow the implant to integrate with the bone which is usually 2-3 months after which the implant dentures can be constructed.
Implant dentures can take a couple of months to construct as each stage is bespoke to the individual patient and several measurements need to be taken prior to the fitting of the dentures.
Implant dentures can look as natural as real teeth. Advances in materials and colour technology allow us to replicate the shade, shapes, and nuisances of natural teeth to give a fantastically natural look. These are some of the same teeth we use in our full arch reconstructions and no one need ever know you had implant retained dentures.
